Despite the ease that comes with computing most of the laborious processes that execution of deliverables comes with, people in the business world may be gnashing their teeth sooner or later than their moments of celebration as the after-effect of the much-accepted Artificial Intelligence [AI] could signify the beginning of job loss for them.
Looking back at the concluded year 2022, there was significant AI that was invented from project management, online scheduling tools, teleconferencing software, and the likes that were celebrated as innovation and comfort for every user. But looking at the trend and the future that awaits our reality, it is safe to ask: What are the odds?
In this not-so-often-seen post, I will be diving into the world of AI, its meaning, its benefits to mankind, what AI cannot or may not do, and likewise, its adverse effects.
What is artificial intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and learn like humans. These machines are trained to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.
AI systems can be classified into two categories: weak AI, which is designed for a specific task, and strong AI, which can perform any intellectual task that a human can.
What is strong AI?
Strong AI, also known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), refers to the type of artificial intelligence that can perform any intellectual task that a human can.
This task includes understanding natural language, learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. Strong AI systems can adapt to new situations and learn from experience, much like a human would.
The goal of strong AI research is to create machines that can think, reason, and learn in a way that is indistinguishable from human intelligence. This type of AI is still under development and does not yet exist.
What is Weak AI?
Weak AI, also known as Narrow AI or Applied AI, is a type of artificial intelligence that is designed to perform a specific task or set of tasks. Unlike strong AI, which can perform any intellectual task that a human can, weak AI is limited to a specific domain or area of expertise. For example, a weak AI system might be designed to play chess, recognize speech, or recommend products to customers.
These systems are not capable of generalizing their intelligence to other tasks or problem domains. Weak AI systems are widely used in today's applications, such as virtual personal assistants, image recognition, and self-driving cars.
What are the advantages of AI?
There are many potential advantages to AI, including:

- 24/7 availability: AI systems can operate around the clock, without the need for breaks or rest, allowing for continuous operation and increased output.

What are the disadvantages of AI to humans?
There are also some potential disadvantages of AI, including:
